Require a username and password before anyone can view a folder.

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. Go to Files > Directory Privacy (or Password Protect Directories).
3. Navigate to and select the folder you want to protect.
4. Tick Password protect this directory, give it a name, and Save.
5. Create a user: enter a username and password under Create User, then Save.

Tip: Use this to protect a staging area, a private download folder, or your WordPress wp-admin for an extra layer over the login (article 148).
