WordPress runs best on a current, supported PHP version.
- Log in to cPanel and go to Software > Select PHP Version (or MultiPHP Manager).
- Select the domain running WordPress.
- Choose a current supported PHP version and click Apply.
- Visit your site to confirm everything works.
Note: If a plugin or theme isn't compatible with the new version, your site may show errors — switch back, update the plugin/theme, then try again.
